We have an exciting job opportunity to head our Quality Control (QC) department. As Manager QC, you are leading a growing team of yet around 15 motivated professionals and trainees. The team is responsible for the development, validation and maintenance of analytical methods and the analysis of our polymers for GMP batch release. Further to that, the team participates in R&D projects for providing analytical support and expertise. Your department is responsible to keep  our sophisticated analytical equipment park in top condition and all according the appropriate quality and safety standards.  

Your responsibilities and challenges

It is your responsibility to manage (or delegate) all facets of the QC department:

  • Ensuring availability of reliable methods and documentation according to established quality standards
  • Timely analysis and record review for all requested analyses
  • Providing analytical expertise to supervise method development towards ICH criteria
  • Organizing method validation against ICH guidelines
  • Keeping QC equipment operational conform quality standards
  • Assist in solving complex problems requiring analytical support and expertise
  • Keeping track on innovations in the field and explore and implement them when appropriate
  • Create synergy by sharing, proper archiving and re-use of internally developed knowledge
  • Ensuring an effective collaboration with the other departments within PolyVation
  • Partake in the Management Team
  • Responsible for all personnel affairs, including coaching, appraisal and hiring
  • Enable a pleasant and productive working atmosphere
  • Financial responsibility for department and equipment budgets
  • Final responsibility for all QC facilities and equipment
  • Participate in acquisition activities and responsible for the analytical part of project proposals 

Your Profile

For this role we are looking for a passionate analytical polymer chemist with strong managerial skills. You possess at least the following competencies:

  • MSc or PhD degree in analytical, polymer, organic and/or pharmaceutical chemistry, or equivalent
  • Familiar with state of the art analytical technologies in the area of (biomedical) polymers
  • Curious to new developments in the field and able to bridge those to our own practice
  • Keen on critical details, while keeping distance to keep track on headlines
  • Affinity with datasets and statistics and experience with advanced statistical tools
  • Experience with lean and risk based approaches to organize large workloads
  • Documentation skills: report writing, deviations, process changes, etc.
  • Enthusiastic leader, a source of inspiration for your team, embracing teamwork and collaboration
  • Engaged with your team, also beyond the professional interactions
  • Able to evaluate and improve internal procedures and processes
  • Strong communication skills (verbally and in writing)
  • Proficient in English and Dutch (or willing to learn Dutch within reasonable time)
  • Relevant experience in industry: life sciences and/or chemistry (at least 8 years)
  • Relevant experience in a (project)management role
  • Strong affinity with quality and GxP experience
